Not sure that covering up treason and treachery (treachery by Russians; treason by Trump and his campaign) is worse than such horrific crimes.
Whether or not the collusive, collaborative interactions by Trump and his campaign with the Russians rose to the level of criminal conspiracy, clearly the Mueller report established underlying crimes by Russians and that Trump tried repeatedly to obstruct the investigation of the Russian.
Whatever Trump’s reason for such obstruction — whether because he is more complicit than what could be proved “beyond a reasonable doubt” or because he fears that the Russian’s crimes in helping him to get “elected” undermines the legitimacy of his fake “presidency” — it is clear that horrific crimes occurred and the Trump was up to his eyeballs in the coverup.
I’ve been reading the report, saw that Barbara Ledeen and Peter Smith thought they had found some of Hillary’s emails, only to learn from Eric Prince that they were fake. Barbara Ledeen is the wife of Michael Ledeen, who is believed to be the man who faked the Niger yellowcake papers that got us into Iraq. The neocons are still among us…
Democrats in the House are probably thinking politically… as they should. What is most important now is to keep the House and win the Senate (as well as the White House) in 2020. If the House impeaches Trump (as they have grounds for) it would give a number of Republican Senators the chance to take center stage and say, “see we’re not so bad”. If the Senate convicted and removed Trump it would give Pence a chance to pardon him. Of course NY courts could still put Trump in Jail. I personally would like to see Trump out of Washington and in jail tomorrow. What worries me most is that Democrats infighting over who will be nominated for President will distract them from winning Congress in November … and the White House too.
The wheels of Justice move slowly, but they keep grinding. Nadler and Pelosi have it right: don’t be in a rush to impeach; investigate and lay out the evidence for all to see; let the courts in the Southern District of New York do their work. By November 2020 the American electorate should have the information they need to make the right decision. Then Trump will be right for once and he will be effed.
Do not impeach him! He will never be convicted in the senate. Clinton was impeached for lying about a BJ with a consenting adult, his approval rating shot up and he was re-elected. Don’t be stupid, history repeats itself. Let the investigations play out. Like Gypsy8 says above he will be well and truly effed. Keep your fur on Dems.
The concept of a constitutional democratic republic that is government of the people, by the people, and for the people is understood by most as a precious thing to be conserved with its constitution to protect the minorities, its democracy to allow referendums and as a republic to allow proportional representation at all levels of government. The Kochs, the Mercers, Adelson, et al see such a government as a threat to their hope to have a constitutional democratic republic become a mere facade with “elections” of prescreened candidates that meet their, not we the people’s, needs. The Kochs, in particular, have been successful in seeding the idea that government (of the people, by the people, and for the people) cannot work and strong authoritarian leader controlling a minimally sized administration — most services privatized — is the optimal government. Higher education poses a threat to their ideology and must be attacked from within so that we can have people believe that someone like the resident is protecting them from the evils of government of the people, by the people, and for the people which the Kochs would have us believe equates with socialism/communism not “American” capitalism that they insist is the only true path with the wealthy controlling it behind the facade. Justice — judges/courts — must be partial to the wealthy and corporations. A brave Kentuckian who obstructs Congress must be seen as a hero protecting the Coal industry from the ravages of progress, especially clean air, clean water and abating the effects of climate change.
I hate to say it guys, but without the Republican party doing what would be right for the Nation, impeachment may not be the right move right now. I think the Democrats need to look at the whole report before anything else!
Have you ever noticed that it is always the retaliation that draws the foul? If you commit the crime, you may be able to skate, but if you draw attention to it by running a cover-up, you will face consequences.

NIxon didn’t do, or lie, nearly as much. There are many charges there for impeachment, but Congress has to represent the people, not do a Barr.

Not “hasn’t JUST BEEN a bad dream,” but “hasn’t BEEN JUST a bad dream.” Sloppy writing, but spot on sentiment.
