    We had to file for an extension for the first time this year. My husband’s many hospital stays (stroke and other issues) have wreaked havoc with our taxes. I could not find all the paperwork (I am afraid my husband tossed some out by accident), so my accountant filed for an extension and I get to ask companies for copies of the missing paperwork.

    I know someone who says he never files his taxes because he figures that withholding, the government would always owe him and would not want to audit him for fear of having to pay him those refunds. And if that is true, that is how laziness is costing him.

    Ed would probably be in that same boat.
