Peter Paul Montgomery Buttigieg has shown himself to be an outstanding citizen, scholar, and naval officer. Pretty good mayor too. As a graduate of Harvard & Oxford his academic creds are impressive. It’s to be hoped that Buttigieg’s sexual orientation is neither here nor there when it comes to his current electibility.

Mr. Buttigieg is 37 years old and has no national political experience, no legislative experience, no administrative experience beyond the small town of South Bend Indiana, and no proposals or positions that differ from a half dozen of his rivals.

The presidential election of 2020 may be the most important one America has ever had. It would be the tragedy of tragedies if we risked it all on an unproven and relatively unknown citizen that may or may not have the wherewithal to deal with the incredibly fierce heat of a presidential election.

No matter how smart, cool, and personality laden the guy might be, there is a very real chance he could lose to Mr. Trump in a landslide.

It’s time for the gays to quit trying to hide who they are and for everyone else to quit judging them for it.

Having watched him talking in Q & A’s I’m very impressed and certainly think he would be excellent on the debate stage. Refreshing to see someone give articulate answers rather than pulling out one of their 10 preset talking points.

He’s 37 and has been mayor of a small city. Go get elected as Governor or run for Congress and get some experience. Then run for president if you’ve not turned into a self-serving party hack.

This is a trend in American politics:

Dubya was a president “you’d like to have a beer with.” This is not a criterion for leadership, especially the presidency.

Clinton concealed his brilliance with his folksy, down-home style, as well as having some obvious flaws.

Reagan was showing active signs of Alzheimer’s in his second term, and arguably in his first, and was protected by his people – protecting whom, one might ask…?

#45: “I am very smart.” He claims to be #1 in his class at Wharton (which he wasn’t), smarter than the generals (Hitler made the same claim and was proven wrong), doesn’t need intelligence briefings, claims to be smarter than people who have advanced degrees…and got totally owned by Kim Jong Il and Putin.

What’s heartbreakingly sad, is that some on the Left complain forcefully that he has an “assimilationist” attitude and doesn’t emphasize his oppression enough; others simply have said they won’t support a white male, period. He deserves better; and I fear for us all.

We know that Preacher Pence is TERRIFIED of an openly Gay man that is SMARTER, MORE ARTICULATE IN MULTIPLE LANGUAGES, BETTER EDUCATED, MORE POPULAR, and is actually OUT OF THE CLOSET, unlike Pence!

Pete will be in the race until the convention if money raising counts – he has a large and affluent bloc of democrats who share his er….. and will open their wallets and purses. (I am not saying that all gays are affluent or politically liberal – but enough are for a campaign for the nomination)

A totally unacceptable candidate to all good Republicans. He’s not only intelligent; he’s educated too. Can’t have that.

If not a viable Presidential Candidate, he’d still make a HELL of a Secretary of Education, or Health and Human Services…

Based on the previous and some of the current decision making by the electorate, he’s got no chance.

Intelligence does seem to be a negative among the GOPists. Even Dubya learned to say “Nuke-you-lar” so as to sound dumber than he is (go find some of his earliest speeches while running for Governor). But the Democrats don’t have that problem: Recent Democratic candidates and Presidents have been plenty bright!

As for that other, um, you know… I think that being Episcopal is sufficiently generic to not be an issue.

I don’t know if the American people could stand the shock of the difference between Pete’s administration and that of the one now in office!!! YIKES,…I shudder to think about it…………
