In the cartoon, all the white kids are sleeping and all the Black kids are paying attention. In a decade of teaching, I never saw a classroom like that. If classrooms were really like that, we’d see Black kids succeeding on the level of Asian-American kids.

Quayle is a hero now. Remember, when Pence called Quayle & asked if he should try to stop Biden from assuming office, Quayle said No, No, No; and Pence took it to heart and followed it. Strange how things change with time, but they do. And yes, I remember Quayle. Saw the Quayle-Bentsen debate in real time.

I agree with Mr Bok about 1% of the time, but on this one, Yes. Yes, people were burning buildings in their “peaceful” protests. (Question: If this was peaceful, what’s a NON-peaceful protest??) Yes, a guy carrying a gun illegally pointed it at the kid while the kid was on the ground. And when you are on the ground and fire upward at someone who’s pointing a loaded gun at you, Yes, usually it is self-defense. Same thing if the guy is hitting you on the head with a skateboard. Skateboard a weapon? Don’t laugh. Just take one and hit it hard on a table, or on someone’s head; see if it does some damage: It probably will.

I’m not a Trump voter & I don’t like vigilante culture. But this whole prosecution was political. The kid never should have been charged. The act of charging him at all was purely political, and it was an abuse.

A little hypocrisy in the US? I wonder how we would treat the Uighurs if they occupied a couple of states, or large parts of them?

Is that supposed to be Pres Biden in the picture? Looks more like Bush senior, who of course is no longer here.

“…cladnaer…” Sorry, I mistyped “calendar.” Pretty badly.

Aren’t the cartoonists Spanish speaking? The translation is plain wrong. “Haciendo” is a participle, not an infinitive. The sentence says “While making Christmas tamales, it is not on the cladnear.” (IDK what “it” refers to.) What they MEANT to say was “Hacer tamales…”, i.e. “To make tamales” Hacer, not haciendo. That is a mistake that English speakers make, but I don’t expect it of guys named Cantú and Castellanos.

I have to wonder: How well would a large community of that group do in the USA? ISIS & Al Queda sympathizers? Hardcore Muslims? Sure, we would have welcomed them here in 2001 and in the Age of Trump?

Probably more air pollution and global warming came out of that flight than many people produce in a year, maybe in a lifetime.

I wouldn’t rule out an accidental release from a bioweapons lab. But if it was, what do we do about it? If we ramp up hostilities, that will only motivate China (& our other adversaries) to take more defensive measures against a possible war with us, including bioweapons. If we’re going to pressure China for more info, we need to think first about how to respond, with the long view in mind. Of course, China already has plenty of motivation not to let another accidental release happen: They lost plenty from this one.
