Also this: “An emergency is a situation that poses an immediate risk to health, life, property, or environment.”
If illegal border crossings weren’t an emergency 10 years go, when they were more than double what they are now, what’s “immediate” about the current situation? If they weren’t an emergency in 2017 and 2018, when the Republicans were in control of Congress, what’s the urgency now, when apprehensions are headed steadily downward?
For this administration, facts don’t matter, words don’t mean what they mean, bluffing and bullying are the order of the day, truth is optional, the press is the enemy, and science is irrelevant. The only thing that matters is one man’s opinion — whatever it happens to be at the moment.
