This reminds me of a Sci-Fi story in an anthology I read years ago. People all had an “Ear-friend” and one day a guy got tired of being wired in so he ditches the thing and wanders out the door to find the source of the broadcasts. He gets into all kinds of trouble because he visibly doesn’t have the thing in his ear. He does eventually find the source and the man running it decides this guy could take his place so he could retire. I just don’t own one of those phones but I have no interest in running the outfit(s) that put them out either.
I get that same reaction when I’m in a doctor’s waiting room or waiting for my son to come out of his school since I leave my phone in my purse and I have my Kindle out reading a book. People think I’m a freak. I’ve actually had people peek over my shoulder to see what the heck I could be doing on that thing.

Anyone ever notice how people holding their phones taking videos looks like someone holding a cross to ward off evil spirits?

This is what I often experience when it comes to social media, including the facial expressions.

I’m surprised that they even notice her…

She looks too calm, unless she did it before.

My faith in today’s youth is restored just a little bit whenever I see students on the university buses not staring into their phones.

She’s in the moment. The espresso earlier helped prolong that moment. Catch her later on when it’s worn off completely; THEN you’ll have your psycho.

They aren’t taking to well to a person who is enjoying not being part of the herd.

She is smiling because she is noticing the real world for the first time!

That thousand yard stare she brought home from Nam, or maybe she just crapped her pants.

Have you also ever noticed that during an accident or incident people will stand there and video it rather than assisting?
