The bible signing thing made sense to me. After the ‘80s there seemed, to me, to be this new cult of christians that I couldn’t explain but knew them when I saw them.

I’ve since (last week) come to think of them as the " I AM CHRIST!" christians.

They will start out smiles and niceties but give them a little time.

They really know what Jesus would think on any subject.

    Give them some more time.

They really know how Jesus will judge everyone.

    Given a little more time?

They will hint that if Jesus were here now that J.C. would be so impressed with them that their ideas would become christian law.

The pustulent orange failure is a walking version of that. They can point to him and say “See! He gets it!” Because he’s never wrong (in his own malignant narcissitic disordered head) he presents the behavior they wish they could all get away with. Signing a bible? “Hey one day I’ll get to do that because I’M better than Jesus if I’m honest with myself.”

Does it make you think of any of our locals?

Bush and Obama also signed bibles. They, tho, were not the antithesis of the christian teachings.

I’m wondering if Trump knows he’s been demoted from the Messiah down to Cyrus in the last year. Wonder who’ll he be the incarnation of next year.

Trump came from the Mar-a-Lago massage parlor to sign the Bible. I bet he didn’t bother to wash his hands.

To Donnie John’s way of thinking, he might not have ACTUALLY written it – but he CAUSED it to be written – so his signing it was completely apropos.

Seeing as how the evangelical/conservative "Christians of the GOP act almost the complete opposite of what the Bible says Jesus taught, the lettering on the Bible in the comic should be in reverse, not upside down.

Vidrinath, I am agreeing with you and furthermore as a person of faith, find this highly disturbing on a deep level. The act of signing appears to lay claim to authorship, as historically only authors have been the ones to endorse books, and then typically in the humble place of the flyleaf.

I am an Evangelical Christian, but do not subscribe to this cultish – what some call ‘conservative’ blind hero worship. Where I grew up, it didn’t matter what your political bias was, it mattered that you kept your eyes open to provable truth, not ‘alternative facts’. I am also disturbed by the desensitizing effect of this so-called ’leader’s’ constant deception, deflection, and distortion.

This apparent attempt at conscription of the Word to selfish ends should disturb anyone of faith. Those who would use the Bible as a weapon often do not understand that in doing so, one is picking up a sword by the blade, not the hilt. There is only One who has His hand on that hilt.

Tucker Carlson cosigned Trump’s signature with a little note about fantasizing on Trump’s Miss America teen contestants.
