Val: ALIX?! What are you doing?!
Alix: Giving my crusts to Biscuit.
Val: We don't give the dog TABLE FOOD!
Alix: We don't?
Alix: Why not?
Biscuit: No good reason. Now drop the crust.
We have two dogs. Both beg for table food. Hubby give a little of cereal grains, They eat their own dog food as dogs can gain weight fast and act like they never been fed.
I can understand not encouraging the dog to beg, but we always put the table scraps in the dog’s bowl when we cleaned the table, especially if we’d had steak. Of course, our dogs stayed outside, so they couldn’t beg at the table. What do you do with steak bones if you don’t give them to the dog?
We always gave our dog a bite of something from the table, but it was put in her bowl. We never let her beg from the table, but at least she got to feel like part of the pack.
Our daughter is very strict with both dog’s. We have a bi-level and she finance eat lower level she makes then go lay at certain place and stay they mind. Dog’s can gain weight too fast.

I would advise Alix to drop that crust. Biscuit’s tail is wagging profusely. One wonder’s what his next step will be.

Depends on the kind of dog and the kind of table foods. In some cases the food on our table is healthier than what’s in most commercial dog foods.

jelindley, that’s not the point I’m sure. Just don’t get the dog used to begging at the table.

When my grandmother was a child they had a hen that would wait by the table and “dance” for crumbs.

Yeah–the look of Biscuit’s lips in the last panel is great.
