Socialists do seem to get their knickers in a twist when an American company takes their posturing at face value and chooses to locate somewhere more conducive to doing business.

Of course, the socialists always place the blame for the misfortune on, and target, someone other than themselves.

Access to an educated workforce gives the giant corporations an incentive to locate in “superstar” cities, but the cities pay a price in offering tax incentives to get those new high paying jobs. It would be better if cities agreed to stopped competing, but will they?

Not sure it was such a good deal for NYC or its’ workers at that price. Cities shouldn’t have to pay out for businesses like Amazon to re-locate or sports teams that want new facilities. That’s the socialism here. Taxpayers paying to subsidize businesses is the very definition of socialism. Now let’s talk about oil subsidies…..

Amazon wanted $3 billion to locate a headquarters in New York City. If the people of New York State were paying for that, using the rough figure of 20 million residents, each man, woman, child, and baby would be on the hook for $1,500.

There were supposed to be 25,000 jobs created in said headquarters. That works out to $120,000 per job created. So, each of those jobs would have to result in over $120,000 in tax paid in taxes to New York State before said state broke even on the deal. Not income, not gross — tax paid.

I would welcome someone explaining how this would have been a good deal for the residents of the state.

Not sure why this conversation wandered of onto “socialism.” Cuomo and Deblahblah bargained away more tax breaks than other cities — and then the local people objected. And rightly so. Meanwhile, cities in desperate need of Amazon’s investments go wanting. It’s time for Amazon to find a home in a poorer city that welcomes their presence and needs their economic stimulus.

Steve Rattner, Gov. Cuomo and Mayor DiBlasio beg to differ:https://nypost.com/2019/02/15/de-blasio-rips-into-aocs-amazon-opposition-working-people-want-jobs/?utm_medium=SocialFlow&utm_source=NYPTwitter&utm_campaign=SocialFlow

It’s embarrassing that people are defending this. AOC -and worse people who support this insanity think that she just found $3 billion to spend because the Amazon deal is dead. She doesn’t know that the $3 billion is contingent on Amazon showing up and building their headquarters. There is no $3BILLION dollars. Never was until it’s generated in Amazon tax payments.

    Amazon has two sides.

" … Today, Amazon put warehouse workers in the hospital – again and one is fighting for their life in the ICU right now. Amazon’s automated robots put humans in life-threatening danger today, the effects of which could be catastrophic and the long-term effects for 80+ workers are unknown,” said Stuart Appelbaum, president of the Retail, Wholesale and Department Store Union (RWDSU). “This is another outrageous example of the company putting profits over the health and safety of their workers, and we cannot stand for this. “

Worker advocates and Amazon employees cross the globe are calling for harsher penalties as the company’s track record for injuries and fatalities continues to grow.

The Dirty DozenThe National Council for Occupational Safety and Health (National COSH) placed Amazon on its 2018 “Dirty Dozen" report of “employers who put workers and communities at risk.”

And some high paying jobs …

There is absolutely no way anyone can spin this against the GOP or Trump or even the moderate Dems. Yes, many of you will try, and end up looking stupid in the process.

This is 100% on the shoulders of the left wing of the left wing. And they are PROUD of their accomplishment. 25,000 well paying jobs, down the toilet. 25,000 new taxpayers pouring money into NY’s depleted treasury

All this as the wealthy are fleeing the state, taking their tax dollars with them.

On the other hand, the GOP is going to use this disaster to demonstrate to the nation just how totally insane the far left wing really is. Do you really want [insert candidate name] doing this to our town, state, nation?

Why does the richest person in the world and one of if not the most lucrative business in the world NEED tax incentives and other inducements to locate anywhere?

So how many people the that are against Amazon’s tax breaks (and for the record I loathe government’s tax breaks to businesses) have a complete, total, and utter flaming meltdown if their city refuses to build a new stadium for their local sports team ever couple of decades? I mean corporate welfare is corporate welfare.
