At least they’ve got a choice.

The Republicans started with a wide field of candidates and decided that Trump was the best they had to offer. Pray to God that we will do better.

Many will drop out long before then. At least Howard Schultz won’t be there. Although he’ll probably demand it.

I like this big field — all look pretty good, some better than others. Every one of them far superior to the thuggery currently occupying the White House.

Is this because we are unwilling to write a functional job description of the prerequisites an individual should have to be a candidate for the office of president, so the parties just select the most marketable? Are primaries really doing the job of selecting the best and brightest or is it just to create an illusion of the voters having a choice?

Fine with me, but we need not only ranked choice voting, but ranked choice polling, to clarify the situation before people sit down to very long ballots.

You have to take a test to work at the post office, why not the presidency? ( Not to mention to be a teacher, a lawyer, a speech pathologist, etc. etc.).

So far I like Warren, who has a strong record of fighting for the middle class, but there really are so many good candidates, it’s kind of exciting. Just one rule for me, any time a Democrat tells me what’s wrong with another Democrat instead of telling me why I should vote for them, they are marked off my list. We have to be sure that we don’t make the same mistake the Republicans did that landed them with Trump.

Anybody can run for president—bet you anything Stephen Colbert does. As a joke, of course, but, then again, we currently have a joke as the president! Point is, hardly any of the people who have announced will be in the first debate. Another point: nothing wrong with having a lot of people to choose from. After all, in the early primaries last time around, there were 17 Republican candidates to choose from. A few were intelligent, and most were sane, but the voters decided on Trump, who is neither. And then Putin turned out to understand the Electoral College better than Clinton did……..

I suspect the field will have been narrowed, winnowed out, quit by some, and otherwise made more manageable by the time the caucuses and primaries roll around.

At the moment, we have enough candidates to field a hockey team. That’s it! Let’s get Bobby Orr to run, Esposito too, put him on center. This’ll be great.

I fear the Democrats will shoot a gift horse in the head if they have a dozen or more candidates.

How many candidates did the GOP have on the debate stage in 2016? And look what they elected! Straight out of central casting. An orange clown puppet.
