Assault implies taking advantage of a position of power to influence or force another’s behavior. This whole thing has turned into a dumpster fire of PC BS gone amuck. This is on the level of a Shakespearean farce. Nobody should have to resign for doing one stupid thing back in college that was not considered nearly as unacceptable then as it is now. Nor should the LG be forced out based on allegations of sexual assault unless further evidence comes to light. That being said, I hope they all resign and then they discover that the speaker called the meter maid a bitch for ticketing his car as he was running to feed the meter in 1979, so he too has to resign. I’m not sure where the line of succession goes from there in VA but I hope the nonsense continues until there are so many resignations that Willy the statehouse janitor becomes governor of VA.
VA is two states; the northeastern part is more liberal democratic, the southern rim and west is far right republican, and a lot of farms. It’ll be interesting to see how they like the screwing over the farm industry is getting from the GOP.
Strange that the Republicans HATE “Racists” when they are Democrats, but they LOVE Republican Racists, like Crazy Joe Arpio, Steve King, Cindy Hyde-Smith, and others.
I am rapidly becoming of the opinion that this matter needs to be decided by the voter’s of Virginia. If they feel there needs to be a change from the man they voted into office then let them decide that. If they think their choice is fine then the rest of us should remove our selves from the situation.
What I want to know isn’t what a politician did in college 30+ years ago; it is how they have conducted themselves in the last few years. Many people did stupid, thoughtless stuff when young and maybe intoxicated. They are probably very ashamed of their actions. If they have shown themselves to be good people now, it is time for us to forgive their past transgressions. Is there anyone who hasn’t ever made a stupid mistake?

Fairfax should take the seat and let the court case be taken after. And he may counter sue not just the woman but the internet site that did this on purpose to get rid of him using the Democrat’s zero tolerance without even a hearing. A method which stinks.
All major issues of concern re: a candidate for ANY office should be evaluated, thrashed out, voted upon and definitely decided upon prior to any public ststaements about their status in an up-coming election.
