I’m thinking one of his personalities is going to rescue her from the others….or at least give Tracy time to.

I am ALSO thinking….you have a homicidal maniac you think will appear there….one capable of overpowering the people at the asylum….and you stick one run of the mill cop to watch over her….one who, on top of that, thinks nothing of leaving her alone for a bit.Sorry, Det. Tracy…..you dropped the ball here.

How did her wrists get untied? She’s not only a high diver, she’s an escape artist.

So, a big point was made about tying and gagging her and poof, all of a sudden she’s free with no evidence of either a gag or ropes?! Sloppy, sloppy writing. And what’s with not showing the confrontation between the cop and Splitface? That should have been the focus instead of the interaction between Clybourne and Zelda which offers nothing.

Yesterday’s last panel shows that Zelda might have been able to put her hands up to her face, get her finger nails under a corner of the tape being used as a gag, and pull it off before Clybourne could get to her. But how she also got her hands free is beyond me. She could maybe have used her teeth to work the knot loose if she had time, but Clybourne was only a few feet away.

I’m so glad others have already pointed out the sloppiness of the strip. If I was the first I’d be vilified by PQ49.

    LOL!

Here’s how Zelda got loose: The artists forgot to draw the ropes today. Why at this stage of the strip, anyone would expect continuity is beyond me.

Ok, looking back on yesterdays strip, she has her mouth taped and her hands bound with rope. But in the last panel, her hands are moving which seems to indicate that she is working somehow on untying them. But their positioning is right in front of her mouth so she wouldnt be able to use her teeth to untie them since it was taped shut.

The time frame from when she was bound and gagged to when Tulza exited and then summoned the both of them seems to be a matter of mere moments, nowhere NEAR enough time for her to remove the tape from her mouth, use her teeth to untie her wrists, and then have the confrontation with Clybourne.

    Sloppy.. just plain old sloppy

A few points on which I will disagree with the distinguished gentlemen: I suggested yesterday that Zelda seemed in the last panel to be about to pull the tape from her mouth, un-gagging herself. I further think that, though the coloring on this site obfuscates it, her wrists were bound with a strip of cloth of some kind rather than with rope (remember this all had to be improvised by Clybourne very hastily) and that this was more easily undone than rope would have been. So, Zelda’s being freed of her bonds today is not at all troubling to me. Further, Clybourne seems at least somewhat sympathetic to her, and is hesitant to follow the 3-in-1 to any extreme.

On the other hand, I agree that the big THUNK is the big lunk of a so-called bodyguard, who has been out looking around (or copping a smoke; who knows?), biting the dust, so that now the situation is “all clear” except for the snowfall. This leaves us with Clybourne facing his big decision whether or not to comply with the command that he “bring her” to face possible execution or instead “turn face” and help her escape, either outdoors or perhaps more wisely back into the house where, perhaps, help awaits….
