Once again: If you really want fewer abortions, birth control is the answer.

You want it to be effective, safe, convenient, available, and used.

    .

But that’s not Republicans like Varvel want. What they want is to Punish Sinners.

Especially women sinners, and even more especially if they are poor.

    .

Once the birth is completed, they want nothing to do with the kid or the mom. They are on their own.

Total Bullsh%$! Google it or go to Snopes.com. “If you want to stop abortions, you should vote for the party that is making sure everyone has health care, a High School Diploma and birth control.” Rachel Maddow

That’s so gosh darned wrong! We good conservative Christians need to stand up and fight for abortion to only be legal for Republican mistresses!

I’m a pro-choice atheist, but this law goes a bit too far.

It should be easy and accessible up to the point of unsupported viability. That’s more than enough time for the woman to make her choice.

Once the fetus can survive a premature birth without medical support I think abortion should be off the table unless carrying to term will permanently injure or kill the woman.

Why? Because that is where I have settled on my dislike of abortion in general versus the need for a woman to have control over her own body.

When does life begin? I have no firm idea, but aborting at 8-1/2 months, 9 months, strikes me as being wrong.

Varvel wants more poor Black/Brown babies to grow up and be shot by cops so he can pontificate on how Blacks/Browns are evil.

You make women’s health rights look like a bad thing, what is wrong with you?

“provision permitting late-term abortions when a woman’s health is endangered” – https://www.cbsnews.com/news/new-york-passes-abortion-bill-late-term-if-mothers-health-is-at-risk-today-2019-01-23/Read about the law rather than go off kilter and start ranting. I personally believe the woman staying alive is more important than something that isn’t breathing on its own is.

As different religions have different positions on abortion, why would a country that proclaims religious tolerance in their Constitution attempt to legislate something so personal?

For example: " … There is scholarly disagreement on how early Christians felt about abortion, and no explicit prohibition of abortion in either the “Old Testament” or “New Testament” books of the Christian Bible. …"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Religion_and_abortion

The truth about the NY law is that abortions can be done by choice up until 24 weeks (generally accepted as viability) and later term is done only for fetal abnormalities or to protect the life or health of the mother.

My Trumpette relative posted a pic of a baby that was obviously several weeks old and the caption was “I was born at 12:05 but NY law would allow me to be killed at 12:04” which is false propaganda. If you have to LIE then you don’t have a valid point.

Most of the people saying that they want to outlaw abortion completely are also trying to defund Planned Parenthood even though readily available birth control is the BEST way to limit abortions. Plus it often turns out that they are just claiming to be against abortion until their mistress gets pregnant.

As a pro choice atheist also(yeah, I read the bible cover to cover), I agree with andylit 100%. These are not pro life people, they are pro fetus people. After the child is born, they are nowhere to be seen. As an aside, no one has been more supportive of the killing of Arabs thousands of miles away in illegal wars of aggression than these pro-life Christians. How the hell is that pro-life?

Has anyone read the law? I’m wary of trusting Varvels depiction.

Every male should be forced by the government to get a vasectomy when they reach puberty. Save their sperm in a sperm bank. When they marry and only when they marry, can they and their wife have children. No more unwanted pregnancies/children. Cuts down on overpopulation. Saves money.

I tweeted about Ted Cruz and got more likes and retweets than usual, and with that came the inevitable “yah yah what about NY and their new baby killing law?”

And it occurred to me: Perhaps this is just a cynical law, intended to bring in out of state money from the daughters and mistresses of all those good religious folks in the sunnier states.

I didn’t reply, but I felt like asking the responder what her daughter looked like, so I could give her her mom’s regards when she comes, and let her know that she can wear her red cap if that makes her feel better.

Personally, I feel that by cancelling out someone who would have been born, abortion qualifies as killing, but not necessarily murder. Thus, I believe that it ought to be strongly discouraged except in cases where another life is at stake (serious medical complications, or cases such as rape or domestic violence that could result in a murder or suicide).

Regardless, this is a complicated issue, and no one helps things when they dig in and reduce it to slinging attacks like “baby killer” or “woman hater” at one another.

How about passing a law or amendment that completely excludes men from having any right to vote, make law or have a say on the subject of abortion?

Leave the entire matter of legality and the details thereof solely to female adult US citizens eligible to vote and/or hold political office.

Varvel is best as not including the whole picture in his cartoons. He plays to the worst of people by taking issues out of context.
