    It always bugged me when people said Bea Arthur, particularly in her role as Maude, was masculine.

    How is being gruff and tough antithetical to being feminine?

    Ever read the newspaper strip in 1979? In one storyline, Lady Tarkin (yes, the Grand Moff’s widow) bears a remarkable resemblance to Ackmena. Separated twin sisters maybe?
