Two facts about the #SOTU: 1. there is no requirement that it be done annually; 2. no requirement for a speech. Only a REPORT to Congress is required. Traditionally (until the 2nd quarter of the 20th Century), that was a LETTER sent to Congress from the WH. All he needs to do is send the letter to Congress and get The Media to let him blather his bullshit on TV from the WH. Congress has no obligation to allow him to address a joint session.
Where are the grown-ups in Washington? Defending the rule of law and the Constitution.
Trump and McConnell and the Trumpublican party are playing with the financial stability of hundreds of thousands of people in order to get what they want, when they couldn’t get their wall when they had the White House and both houses of Congress. They’re holding workers’ pay hostage to get what they want after an election that repudiated Trump and his enablers.
To oppose Trump and his enablers is to oppose creeping autocracy. To oppose Trump and his enablers is to stand up for our democratic republic, the rule of law and the Constitution.
Have you seen the reports that Mrs. Trump flew to Florida on a government plane (on no government business) while Trump denied Pelosi the use of a government plane to do government business?
40% of government workers are employed by a contractor, this includes security jobs. Contractors cannot force their people to work without pay, plus there are already many federal workers calling in “sick”. Delaying the SOTU until the government is re-opened is addressing a legitimate security concern.
Trump cancelled Pelosi’s trip just for spite. The House already passed bills to re-open the government. Trump said he is PROUD to own the shutdown; if he owns it then he needs to end it. Or McConnell could do his job and bring the bill to the Senate that was passed unanimously in December.
Our govt. is pathetic. On the side, I suggest every one send a rake to the trumpster. Then he could proudly state that he has more toys than the other kids.
Christian conservatives have lost the battle in maintaining Trump is actually our President. Pelosi and the rest of the country realize inviting Trump is legitimizing the actions and intents of a reality show host pretending along with his base to be President of the United States.
My G.O.P. relatives are now chiding me about “compromise” and why Speaker Pelosi isn’t “compromising”.
Donnie John is having a “hissy fit” about not getting his totally useless “Wall”.
I merely point out that I don’t remember anyone giving in to the temper tantrums of their children when THEY threw fits in the store because Mommy or Daddy wouldn’t buy them what they wanted – the “fit” usually only earned the child a “swat” on the butt!
We ALL learned that you CAN’T “compromise” with a baby, you only capitulate. Republicans evidently haven’t learned that yet, but we DO need to educate them!
“Only I can fix it.” “Only I can fix it.” “Only I can fix it.” “Only I can fix it.” Well, no matter how you read it, Mr. president, this one’s on you. So fix it. If you could do in 15 minutes “if they’d cooperate,” how long could it take to throw a bone and get back to work?

The difference is one is concerned about security in wake of the shutdown, the other gave away secret information to the public via tweet.

The TOTUS has the power and authority to enact his petty vindictiveness and deny Pelosi her business trip to a war zone.
Does Pelosi have the power and authority to cancel or postpone the SOTU?

Trump Axes Pelosi’s Plane to Afghanistan. But Flies Melania To Florida.
Are you saying Pelosi should do what crazy dictator Trump wants?
