I cannot possibly ‘like’ this, but thank you for sharing.

There needs to be a “heartbreak” emoji.

She can now play with her new friends, Ninja and Ginger. And they will have trillions of new adventures together, each adventure a different and better one.

I grieve for me, not them. With the great equalizer, we and the other animals are alike. We both eventually cease to exist utterly. But the difference is that animals know how to use their brief time of existence to make each day an eternity. We clearly do not. They are better than we.

Dang it. These are heart-wrenching and beautiful at the same time. I saved the ones of the collie passing quite a while back; they were wonderful. You are truly gifted that you can make me feel like this. I am literally sitting here crying over a cartoon of a dog I never met. At work no less, and people are looking. So sorry about the passing of your dog. We truly don’t deserve them. Thank you for your work on this strip.

Remember the end of (spoiler alert) Marley and Me? Owen Wilson’s character told the dying dog: “Remember when I told you that you were the worst dog ever? I was wrong. You’re the BEST dog ever!”

Reminds so much of my Luv and my Pepper and my Gonzo and my Stella and my Jo.

Luv went to another family and I do not know when she passed.

Pepper passed in 1975 at the age of 25. Gonzo passed in 1993 at the age of 13. Stella passed in 2006 at the age of 10. Jo passed in 2015 at the age of 7.

They were all Jack Russells except for Luv and Gonzo – they were straight out mutts.

Jo’s brother Pi ( π ) is still alive at the age of 10.

The passage of time helps, but I still feel them all within my heart.
