AOC is popular because Democrats have been ceding ideological ground to the most extreme elements in the Republican Party since Reagan, them doing so has really screwed younger people, and they’re sick of it.
The Republicans say “We should end Social Security!” and the Democrats say, “Let’s compromise and just WEAKEN it!” When they should say, “It’s popular and it works. Let’s expand it.”
The Republican say, “Let’s give a giant tax cut to billionaires, and cut things that are used by the middle class.” The Democrats say, “Let’s compromise and give billionaires a SMALLER tax cut, and only cut a FEW things that are used by the middle class.” Instead of “What are you, crazy? That’s stupid. We should let Bush’s tax cuts expire like they were supposed to and start using public money for the benefit of the public.”
People are tired of money being extracted from the middle class and the working class and handed to people who have no need of more money. AOC is actually saying that in very clear terms. And it’s about time.
Desperate Trump thinks shutting down the government will make the government unable to prosecute his many crimes. It just makes real law abiding Americans work that much harder to unseat the crooked liar.
Dems need to realize that Republicans aren’t the only ones tired of establishment… they are the only ones that decided to ride that wave rather than suppress it though. A mistake they can’t afford to make this time around.
