The US pays more per capita for health care than any other country in the world. More than Sweden. More than Denmark. More than Norway. More than Japan. More than France. Why do you think our life expectancy rates are lower and our infant mortality rates higher than theirs?. Our infant mortality rate is about that of Cuba. What are we getting for our higher spending other than ripped off by health insurance giants?
These systems are also used in EVERY OTHER DEVELOPED COUNTRY IN THE WORLD. If Ocasio-Cortez is faulty with math, then so are the governments of Canada, the UK, Germany, France, Portugal, Spain, Italy, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Denmark, South Korea, Japan, and many other countries. These are not risky policies. They have worked before, and as a result, those countries spend less on healthcare, have little or no health-related bankruptcies, (largest cause of bankruptcies in the U.S), and people do not die simply because they cannot afford healthcare.
Mikey, this time I just have to say it. You are an idiot! It has been shown, beyond a reasonable doubt, that as much as single payer would cost, it is far, far less than we are already paying.
Now, time to address this cartoon in particular. Medicare-for-All will cost 32 trillion dollars in ten years. Since it will be phased in over four years, it will cost some 3.2 trillion dollars per year. Which sounds like a lot, until you realize that this also requires tax increases, and it will decrease the military’s budget. Both of these things are acceptable; our taxes are abnormally low, and we spend more on our military than the next 10 nations combined.
No one is laughing harder than AOC at the right-wing crying machine of petulance and vindictive traumas. That grand-old-Party tactic of bully-barking at everything not them just isn’t working against the new generation. The ideas and platforms AOC has already revealed to us is thought-out and inspiring. Just the fact the right-wingers are beside themselves in hateful attack mode instead of offering ideas and platforms themselves makes all of us non-conservatives proud AOC is on our team.
The Koch-sponsored research showed a SAVINGS over 10 years. Yes, the 10-year cost for medicare for all is a huge number, but it’s a smaller huge number than what the study calculates we will pay under the current system. The difference of course, is that the study looks at what it costs, but the GOPists are looking at who makes the profit.
Reps are scared because Alexandria as an adult found out, that 10% of the population have 90% of the wealth while 50% work until they drop. So they have to shout “socialism” very loudly all the time to prevent everybody from thinking this over and getting “bad ideas”.
Ramirez… as always… a day late and a dollar (or Trillions) short. Medicare for all would save us $Trillions. A Koch-brothers study says so. https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/32-trillion-price-tag-sanders-medicare-program-koch/story?id=56938226

We can’t afford it because we have to give the rich more tax breaks and continue spending ridiculous amounts on the Military… priorities people!

Man, clearly Alexandria scares the sh*t out of Michael Ramirez. It doesn’t help him that Michael doesn’t know how numbers work in economic analysis.

If we do not pass any such legislation, we are projected to spend $35 trillion in that same time frame.

Ramirez prefers Capitalist/Trump math.
The one where tax cuts for the rich pay for themselves.
The one where invading Iraq will pay for itself and will be over in six weeks, six months tops.
