The Republicans have had a friend in Pelosi for many years. That USMCA treaty of Trump’s? You can bet the farm (and either way, you will) Pelosi will do everything she can to accomodate the Republicans. The sad part is that the Republicans have convinced everyday Democrats that Pelosi is really the person Democrats need now that their are so many new Democrats in congress. Can’t have those newbies making changes in a Democratic direction, can we? Nope gotta keep the same person that we know from experience won’t change anything.
Less than 40% of Americans know who their Congressman is; I doubt that 10% know or care who Eddie Munster Ryan is and the same will apply to Pelosi. In Congress when she was Speaker her legislature skills were highly appreciated.
Sometimes Republican propaganda is a perfect ‘reverse barometer’. How likely is it that Republicans genuinely wish for the return of the House speaker that shepherded the ACA into law?
Republicans & Russians effectively made ‘Hillary’ into a curse word with their propaganda. Now, desperately hoping to vilify any influential Democrat (and woman) to the voting public, they are barking up the wrong tree this time.
Her positions on issues are rock solid progressive, akin to Bernie Sanders’.
Nancy Patricia D’Alesandro Pelosi is a powerful professional woman who knows just exactly what she’s about – leadership, legislation, and oversight. Let others shape your views, or see for yourself if you agree.
Pelosi says the first piece of legislation the democrats will bring to the floor is a comprehensive ethics bill with campaign finance reform, applying ethical standards to the Supreme Court, requiring disclosure of tax returns, and a host of other anti-corruption measures. This should make the regressives VERY VERY nervous. The Senate will reject this, and even if they don’t trump will veto it.
This is likely a stroke of legislative brilliance. The debate on anti-corruption will be in full force at the exact same moment that the Meuller report is delivered.
As Donny junior said about the treasonous help he was offered by the Russians:
Notice that nobody ever tried to take Pelosi’s job when she was minority leader. She took all the blows, and got very little in return. And now a bunch of upstarts want the job because now it comes with power.
I am a conservative, and I rarely vote for a Democrat, but I do think having two viable parties is beneficial to the country. Despite Obama’s glamour to the faithful, his tenure seriously weakened the party as a whole; and Hillary, well, way too much baggage, and a failure to understand why so many voters are in her ‘basket of deplorable’. Democrats make much of their appeal to younger voters, but are struggling with party rules that ensure the old guard stays in power. Excuse it all you want with “We need someone who knows how to get things done”, but the fact is Nancy will be one step shy of 80 when she’s sworn in, and hasn’t been Speaker for 8 years. Dems – you are not yet listening to the rumbles in your camp.
I still have yet to hear someone explain to me, in a coherent manner, why Nancy Pelosi is so despised? At least with the Left, I can get some argleblargle about “Corporate Democrats” and Yadda Yadda Berniewasrobbed. With the Right? It looks like “Powerful woman = We hate and fear her.” (See also: H. Clinton, K. Harris, E. Warren, A. Ocasio-Cortez)
Here’s something to chew on. The line of succession goes #2 VP, and #3 Speaker of the House. Imagine if Trump goes and they find something like the Agnew scandals on Pence. Wouldn’t the right go ballistic if Nancy became president?
Ramirez, obviously, is quite the expert when it comes to qualifications for House Speaker! He’s studied the many accomplishments of Hastert, Gingrich, Boehner and Ryan! /s
