I gotta be honest, I’m…not quite sure what the offence is here. The poem mentions the mice, yes, but I don’t read any sort of insult into that line, let alone one that warrants a complete walk out?
It just means that mice are equally as anxious as the kids for Santa to arrive, but they’re also being equally well-behaved. They should take it as a compliment, not as an insult.
Your want to see real outrage, take a look at the Chris Rock, Louis C.K., and Ricky Gervais 2011 HBO special Talking Funny, controversy. I’m sorry but comedians get their laughs by pushing the limits, if PC crap continues to get outraged over any and everything, we will soon have nothing but swear words and vulgarity in their routines, and that crap is losing it’s punch due to over use. I’m surprised they haven’t started on Chris’s 1996 Bring the Pain routine, but he’s black soooo… OK! Talk about hypocrisy. PS no need to scream about use of the N word, I get it, this is about Comedy routines not everyday speech. If you tie comedian hands there will be no comedians. Best example is Michael Richards reaction to a heckler, his use of the racial epithets was WRONG because it was not in a routine just his anger.
hmmmm….there’s no shade cast here. Mice are industrious, and very often after dark. To say even THEY are tucked up is not a bad thing; it just says that on cold winter nights those who are blessed with warm, safe night places enjoy them. I’m not familiar (thank God!) with the comic routines Oolong was referring to, but I do think there’s no offense here. No need to skip that line, Nate!
After reading the comments? Yeah … I kinda see why the mice might take offense to the line mentioning them. As others have said, though, at least they had a special mention.
