Leave it to ol’ Trump to act as such an emotionally unstable man-child that he picks a fight with a Republican SCotUS judge just because he dared defend the impartiality of a judge who wouldn’t let Trump has his way. It’s moments like this where Trump’s lack of self control is going to screw him over. Does Trump understand that Roberts my have to rule on whether or not Trump can ignore grand jury subpoenas and that Trump needs to stay on his good side?
Of course, the SCOTUS should be independent of any party ideology, though I’m not sure they are, but that doesn’t mean trump was right to attack a justice as a Hillary backer. Justices are people too. Per usual, trump doesn’t appeal to our better nature. He doesn’t have the ability to address these issues in a way that is in any way uplifting. He also lacks empathy as we have seen in his handling of the Khasshogi killing. I suspect if a member of his family was murdered in that way he wouldn’t think the Saudis or anyone else could be excused for it as he has done in this case, it is all about the almighty dollar.
The incredibly hypocritical trump administration needs to have a new chapter, an answer must be coming soon to all their nonsense. We don’t need to say lock him up, but perhaps, book em, Mueller!
Maybe faced with the potential destruction of democratic principles and norms, Roberts is finally rising to the occasion. Think about the Warren court. Warren won election as the Attorney General of California as a Republican in 1938. In that position, he played a role in the forced removal and internment of over 100,000 Japanese Americans during World War II and was elected governor in 1942. But then as Chief Justice in 1953 he helped arrange a unanimous decision in Brown v. Board of Education, which ruled that racial segregation in public schools was unconstitutional. After Brown, the Warren Court would continue to issue rulings that helped bring an end to the segregationist Jim Crow laws that were prevalent throughout the South. We can hope…
Well, he managed to subvert the executive branch and part of the legislative branch. It looks like the judicial branch has a spine and intends to follow the US Constitution. This is what we get for electing an organized crime boss to the Presidency.
Trump also said it was “not overly necessary” to visit the troops on Thanksgiving, breaking a tradition of many presidents of the past. I also heard that sources say he is afraid to do so.
Let us give Thanks and pray for the continued vigor and good health, and especially for the industrious efforts of the legacy members of the Supreme Court of the United States
