The Venerable Boris (RIP) used to do that. Anything was a lap, even if you’re lying on your side. If you’re on hands-and-knees doing a project, your calves are a lap. He was always there!

Sis has been keeping her new boss Onyx in the bathroom until all the fleas are gone & has been spending a lot of time in there with her, sitting on the toilet (lid down) with a lap full of cat. I sent her this pic & now she wonders if she’s inadvertently training Onyx to sit on her lap when she’s on the toilet…

If lapcat sits on your lap while you are on the toilet is it easier to teach the cat to use the toilet instead of the litter box.
