This is exactly what happened before. Obama ruined a great economy that Bush had built from scratch after he Inherited a nation deeply in debt from Clinton. People, when will you learn ? Don’t let the Dems destroy what the Republicans build.
The bull market is starting to buck wildly. The deficit and tariffs are already causing instability. The Republicans want to use the problems THEY caused to cut Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid. Taking money away from the people that get these benefits will reduce their ability to spend money on goods and services, further hurting the economy.
Ramirez may be a good artist, but what he knows about Economics and government spending ‘could be put in the navel of a flea – and there still would be room for a caraway seed!’
You can blame both Democrats and Republicans. Here’s a great graphic on how each president added to the $21 trillion debt: https://howmuch.net/articles/usa-debt-by-president
One also needs to take into consideration wars, economic downturns and party in control of Senate and Congress. (Pres. Obama put Bush’s off budget spending for the wars onto the books, inflating what he actually contributed to the debt.
Once I was a proud Republican. I thought that they were strong, and could build a good future for our nation.
Maybe that was so, once.
But they’ve failed. The Party of Lincoln has become the Party of NO. Their weakness, cowardice and lack of moral fiber appall me. Tactics copied from Comrade Lenin allow the minority party to masquerade as something they are NOT, the voice of America.
Using half-truths, innuendo, out right lies and intimidation the Republican Party has surpassed the NAZI party as the group best likely to destroy America.
And fools will cheer and gladly march to support them.
I don’t give a DAMN about all the “But the Democrats..” garbage. I don’t give a DAMN about Hillary (with TWO elles!) That’s all the past.
I’m talking about what is going on, right now, Mr. Trump attacking democracy and the Republicans either looking the other way or elbow deep involved in it.
The US economy? Ramirez is worried about the ECONOMY? When the Constitution and American democracy is at stake Ramirez is worried about the economy. Good grief.
The economy is headed for a downturn no matter who takes the House. The Republicans will blame the Democrats, the Democrats will blame the Republicans. The real problems won’t be addressed. For example, financial regulations, or rather the lack of them. The excessive disparity in incomes. The inability of the government to see the looming (or already occurring) changes in the job market. The failure of the government to understand the dangers of climate change.
Parts of the economy are good and improving (as they have done for eight years). Pay increases are taking place at a record pace it is true—but they were virtually non-existent for the last 20 or so years, so cheers, but no great achievement.
All of which will vanish if the global economy gets sucked into a trade war. And the US is not doing our economy any favors by refusing to deal with allies on trade. (The cheese makers of Wisconsin, New York, Vermont, etc., are taking gas. E.g., Vermont’s cheese can no longer be sold in Mexico, a major market, as “cheddar”. Thanks, Big Donald.)
Dag et al., Think about Trump’s announcement that “Just remember: What you’re seeing and what you’re reading is not what’s happening.” He wants you to believe that only his words and those of his extreme right-wing propaganda-spouting “news” organizations are true. he’s telling you that reality isn’t happening in order to advance his self-aggrandizing agenda. In fact, you and your fellow true believers are being led around by your noses, lied to on a daily basis, routinely, on a giant scale, and with malign intent. Trump and his minions have figured out what you want to hear and they continuously repeat it against all logic and demonstrable reality. They’re just saying the words you want to hear to keep you docile while they put a collar on you, and once they do you’ll be sorry but it will be too late. While no media outlet is perfect, the mainstream media are not deliberately making up lies and then repeating them over and over in support of Trump’s and the Republican’s profiteering activities. I would just leave you and your friends alone to believe whatever you please except that you are helping Trump destroy the United States of America and dragging the rest of us down with you. WAKE UP!

Oh no! If the Democrats come to power they may go back to taking steps toward reducing the deficit! We can’t have that!
