What about the again part. If America is not great now, when was it great? Given what I’ve seen of the ReTrumplican party:
It was a time when colored people (or Negros or some other names) knew their place: in the back of the bus.
It was a time when gays (only they were called “queers” back then) stayed in the closet.
It was a time when we laughed at those rag-headed, Ay-rabs (until the Oil Embargo of 1973).
It was a time of cheap lettuce and grapes because farmers could illegally hire Mexicans (or as they were known then “wetbacks” and other names.) at less than minimum wage.
It was a time when women were kept barefoot, pregnant and in the kitchen and fetched their man’s pipe and slippers when he came home from doing “real man’s” work.
