Does anybody besides me think Haley was very likely on the committee that wrote the infamous anonymous op-ed piece? (If it WAS written by committee—I think it was, or at least that the lead writer had a few other people giving their input into it.)
The Human Rights Council (and its predecessor) has been a joke, a farce, for decades. Membership over the decades looks like rogues gallery of the worst offenders on the globe.
The UN itself has become a quagmire. A convenient employment for the families and friends of African despots. Little more than a platform for much of the world to bash the US and Israel. The overwhelming majority of its programs are fundamentally corrupt. The bulk of the cash and material aid to struggling nations goes straight into the bank accounts of the officials of the recipient nations. Food aid is sold to the intended recipients, and sometimes even sold outside the recipient nation.
The peacekeeping units in Africa often end up being worse that the insurgents they are protecting the locals from. Rape and assault of those they “protect” is so common it rarely makes the news anymore.
Yes, I think it is long past time to get the US out of the UN. NYC can use the building for a homeless shelter. It would certainly improve the neighborhood.
