I’ve seen a Joe Heller toon on another site that we’ll might see here on GoComics in a day or two. I thought it was hilarious. A guy sitting with a paper showing the names in the news like Weinstein, Moonves and others. He’s watching Bert and Ernie on TV. Under the TV picture is a tag line saying Are Bert and Ernie gay?
Ernie says: “We’re not straight. We’re not gay. Nothing exists below halfway.”
Bert says: “And frankly, the world would be a lot less crude, if some men you know were like that too.”
Who’s the fool that started the Bert and Ernie rumor? About a pair of puppets no less. Nothing is sacred, even children’s shows. Now I know why I prefer animals to people.
when I was a kid I always thought they were brothers, never even thought about them being friends let alone having a sexual orientation. most kids aren’t even aware of sexuality let alone worrying about it

Bert is a Columbiphile, and is aroused only by pigeons. Ernie is a Anatinophile, with a kink: He like ducks, but only in rubber.
So they Bert and Ernie aren’t “partners” so much as “kindred enthusiasts.” I wouldn’t want to be a mudhen caught between them, though.
