I’m vacationing in Washington, D.C. this week with my wife for our 4th wedding anniversary! Comics will update as normal (and actually on time as they’re all done until mid-next week) but I won’t be as active here.
Hope nothing too crazy happens or I’m going to be real mad that I can’t explore any sort of historical context for it. Look for us on the news in case we get arrested protesting the Kavanaugh confirmation!
Besides, there are way too many poor minorities living in DC. Wouldn’t want the ACTUAL American people to have too much of a say in government. Gotta keep Puerto Rico from becoming a state for the same reason. /s
Do what they did with the other half of the District, give it back to the originating state. If VA was willing to take back its part MD can take back theirs.
So much to do and see, there! A word of warning: the city plan is much bigger than it looks on a map. And a secret gem is the Library of Congress . . . not for its Gutenberg Bible (everyone has one of those) but the recently refurbished main hall itself is eye-popping, and the changing exhibits are the kind of thing you can spend all day looking at, if you aren’t careful. Another secret gem is Washington Union Station, which is “adjacent” to the L of C, meaning it’s a fifteen minute walk away. There are some nice restaurants there, too, in a stupendous Neronean setting. You can even take a train!

At times I feel rather than “District”, “Twilight Zone” would be more appropriate.

Just change the DC to stand for District of Confusion…By the way, anyone hear the rumor that Trump is planning his own memorial?

At least take away the congressional control over the city. And give the rep voting power, not just a seat in the chamber.

At the same time we could make Puerto Rico a state too!

And the Smithsonian!! But you’ll have to stay a month to see it all. Don’t know if you can afford the time or money.

And the Newseum! I hear that takes at least two days, though.

The National Botanical Garden (right by the Capitol) is my favorite hidden gem of DC. It’s marvellous, and it’s free.
