Qualified? For what? We outsource election stealing to Russia now. We don’t really need him anymore. And if it’s all the same to you, the American people will keep Roe v Wade, thanks.

The qualified nominee — by a real president who not only GOT THE MOST VOTES but got OUTRIGHT MAJORITIES, TWICE (the first Democrat to do so since FDR) — was Merrick Garland — a name REPUBLICANS had previously offered as a qualified, consensus moderate.

It was Republicans who took the UNPRECEDENTED step of not even holding hearings, much less a floor vote. That had never been done before. Even when Biden or Schumer gave early lip service to the idea that a president leaving office should wait, the nominees ALL got hearings and full Senate floor votes (they did not all get confirmed, but the outgoing president still got to nominate a backup).

In contrast, Kavanaugh is NOT QUALIFIED. He has shown unprecedented bias and a double standard as top aide to Ken Starr investigating Bill Clinton, a Democrat, but when a Republican like Bush or Trump is in office, all of a sudden it is illegal to do to a Republican what he did to Clinton.

Further, during his confirmation hearing to his present seat, he was asked about his involvement in the ILLEGAL and immoral Bush torture policies, and Kavanaugh, under oath, said he did not have any involvement in that and knew nothing about it. Later memos were uncovered that proved that he not only DID know about it, he was smack in the middle of discussions about it — Kavanaugh had LIED UNDER OATH.

The fact that the current Republicans on the committee don’t dismiss his nomination out of hand proves utter contempt for judicial integrity, for which they have relinquished any moral authority on the subject of perjury.

Mr Breen, your cartoon is so absurd that it’s almost like you are mocking the conservatives’ position on Kavanaugh. Perhaps it’s a subconscious revolt by every ounce of your being that’s finally had enough of having to defend the indefensible and attack the truth day after day after day, just to earn a paycheck.

Kavanaugh’s response to all questions is to deem them hypothetical — and then refuse to answer.

Meanwhile, his paper trail is being kept under wraps so that the confirmation can be railroaded before the public or even Senators can have access to it.

Republicans absolutely believe this is the proper way to confirm all Supreme Court justices — except those nominated by Democrats. Democrats’ nominees are not to be granted a process at all.

    .

Because they are such believers in the Constitution.

Well, this method didn’t work for Goldfinger, either. And I REALLY DOUBT that Liz Warren is going to show up in a bikini and go all turncoat and kill the laser. I don’t even think that she has an audio tape cassette tucked in, either….

The Senate hearings are pretty much like riding the gauntlet and endurance test rolled into one. Whether its Dems or Repubs, the minority always seems to be the ones that assume the prosecutor role.

The Dems have no right to ask Him about why we was FOR the investigation of Bill Clinton, why he recommended ordering Clinton to Testify, and why he recommended impeachment for lying about an affair with a consenting adult,. But he is against ordering Trump to testify in the investigation of Treason, Why he won’t recuse himself if that matter comes before the court, and if he Thinks Trump nominated him because he let it be known that he would protect Trump in court.

Except that in this analogy there ain’t no laser.

Without time to read and evaluate the tens of thousands of pages of documents dropped on the committee mere hours before the hearings began, much less the >100,000 pages of documents withheld by “executive privilege” by the TOTUS in an egregious cover up, there can be no real examination.

Of course, the Republicans claim that 12 hours is PLENTY of time to evaluate all those documents, and surely the vast magnitude of withheld documents only contain the same old stuff that the released documents do, so let’s get on with it.

    Orwellian!

Steve, How do you know he is qualified to be a Judge on SCOTUS? None of us has had a chance to read all of his documents and no it’s the duty of the Democrats and Republicans to remember they are employed by the American People and not a bunch of sycophants when they, the Judicial Committee raise issues and ask probing questions of any nominee. The republicans, Donald Trump and your qualified nominee’s are cheating the American People by withholding probably very relevant information for US.

what is the point of a confirmation process if everyone is expected to approve the nominee? plus, this is nothing compared to Republican’s blocking Obama’s Supreme Court nominee. Republican’s have earned no quarter.

But Obama’s nominee, also highly qualified, came at the wrong time so couldn’t even get a hearing??? I think that was a LOT worse than the grilling this nominee is getting, and not answering…

He won’t answer simple questions, and the Republicans don’t care – they have changed the rules of the senate to pack the courts. The Senate dems are threatening Kavanaugh’s manhood, therefore threatening his existence. This is what Kavanaugh is planning for women in America, a laser right into their right to get healthcare.

Do you expect me to talk Democrats? No, I expect you to die.

Except the did expect him to talk, and of course he didn’t He doesn’t have to explain himself, he has 51 Russian-sponsored traitors to force him onto our country.

Actually, I fail to understand the purpose of your cartoon, Mr. Breen! i’ve watched the hearings and the Democrats keep asking questions and Brett Kavanaugh keeps refusing to answer! Your admittedly very cute cartoon appears to represent an alternate reality available to only the “Unhinged” among us. As I say, “cute”, but ridiculous.

Well, Kavanaugh is a party animal to the bone, and has an “agile” legal mind in the sense that under the right circumstances, he might well tempted to “Undertake to show, That ‘yes’ is but another and a neater form of ‘no’.” And the administration is keeping thousands of pages of his writings under wraps; a few that have “leaked” raise more than a few eyebrows, e.g. ruminations on how to contaminate the concept of “settled law”.

Breen, the truth is the opposite of what you’re claiming. In the movie, Goldfinger wanted Bond to die, not talk. Dems want Kavanaugh to talk. He needs to stop claiming everything is “hypothetical” and he needs to answer for the lies he told in 2006 when he denied any involvement is discussions about “detainees” when he worked for the Bush administration.
