Sadly, his teen quiet will lead to adult deafness. Kids crank up the volume and thereby kill their hearing.

Studies have proven that many people, ESPECIALLY MALES, focus and concentrate better with background sound rather than quiet. Of course the volume levels should not be damaging.

I have a theory that teens by and large have SO much energy along with still-immature brains that they need something to take the edge off the energy when engaged in less-than-absorbing stuff like homework. 50 years after graduation I still play solitaire to keep me focused when I’m on hold and always have some kind of sound in the background except in the most extreme cases.
