    “Easy-to-Open Pull Top” … what’s an easy-to-open pull top?

Don’t think they had those ca 1970 when this strip is set. We always had to use a can opener when we opened our dog’s Ken-L Ration.

He obviously doesn’t speak “dog.” What Rover really said was: “I’ll take both, please.”

@TRACYFAN65 You are correct, no pull tops back in the day. By the way, present-day pull tops ARE NOT easy to open!! But they do eliminate the need for the can opener.

According to ‘The History of the Can’ timeline pull open can tops were invented in 1962. I would not have thought it was that early either. Drink can pull tabs were in 1960.

Rover speaks in thought balloons so often, it’s odd to see him speak “Dog”.
