When I was 5 or 6 my older brother (who was about 9) had a “Horror Movie Club”. They met in our cellar; he decorated that corner with Silly String “cobwebs” and other items. I had a life-sized rag doll that I loved: she was my size & had elastics on her hands & feet so I could “dance” with her. One day I couldn’t find her. I was looking for her when I went down into the cellar…and there she was. She was hanging from a noose, had fake blood all over her plastic face and pink-and-white polka-dot clad body, and a hand rake stuck into her back. I had nightmares for a month, and that put an end to my brother’s club.
