Mob and Mafia thugs and fixers are routinely flipped. How can we trust them? They are all liars, just like the Trumpian mob thugs who employ them.
We can only trust them if we FOLLOW THE INCENTIVES and corroborate with supporting documentation and independent evidence. Promises of immunity or leniency are conditional on cooperation and telling the truth. If they are ever caught in a lie, they lose any benefit that had been offered them AND they have already confessed to long lists of crimes.
If they can provide the supporting documentation and their incentives are contingent on telling the truth, then it is no longer just one person’s word against another.
