If Bobby walks halfway to Suzie, then repeats that action as necessary, he won’t actually reach Suzie. But, at some point, he’ll be close enough for all intents and purposes. (My college physics instructor’s take on that phrase.)
My dad was a malaprop (probably had some form of aphasia), and he said some hilarious things (English was his only language): For my Mom’s surprise birthday party, he wanted to lay out some kind of “rubbish tray”; for an office party, he asked where they wanted to put the “coffee urinal”; weak on computers, he frequently asked me to help him “surface the web.”
