He forgot to mention the bacon. Or steak. And cheese. Can’t forget the cheese.

A half pound of bacon would make it better. A pound better yet!

Toast, butter, tomato, pepper and a pinch of salt is my version. Bacon and lettuce are my weekend add-ons. I haven’t a drop of mayo in the house, nor will I ever.

It is a sandwich—-just not one that I would want!

The sandwich needs bacon and lettuce yet, then it will be complete! Good morning Crew!

I love a good tomato and mayo sandwich (bread – toasted or not, but best of homemade). BUT, the tomato has to be a big beefsteak tomato just picked off the vine and still warm. Oh, man, do I miss those. When I get my house and get the garden going, that is one of the things we will have to get!

Personally, I would make the sandwich with mustard instead of mayonnaise, but maybe that’s just me.

I love meat. But what I thoroughly enjoy is a veggie sub loaded with every vegetable available at a sub shop. Mmmmmmmmmm—good! :-)

Mayo? nope. Tomato? Nope. I’m definitely siding with Louie on this one.

I learned to love tomato sandwiches working on a truck farm in Maine in the early ’60’s: Wonder bread or equivalent (not toasted), thick slices of fully ripe tomato, mayo (it has to be Hellman’s), and salt and pepper. It is still my favorite sandwich. In all these years, I have never found anyone else who likes tomato sandwiches (of any sort). I’ve eaten them every day for the last month with tomatoes from the local farmer’s market. But, even their tomatoes aren’t as good as those I picked 55 years ago.

I ate too many of those as a child. Today, either add the lettuce and bacon or keep the tomato and mayonnaise.

My last dog (Saucy) loved tomatoes so much she’d steal them right off the vines. Current pup (Moxie) doesn’t much care for them. She’ll taste one if I put it on her food, but won’t take one if I offer it from my hand.

My dog loves tomatoes, cucumbers, carrots, watermelon, cantaloupe, and honeydew melon. Don’t ever give dogs grapes, raisins or onions. Bad for them!

Well, hope they both find something to eat that makes them happy.

Good Evening (actually, Good Early Morning), Crew.
