It’s the little touches I like. The band-aid on the elbow, and the drink with an umbrella. The poster on the wall that looks like it could be a Ballard Street shout-out.
Yes, little touches like the “Hang In There” cat (an animal noticeably missing in Pearls). The refined pinky sticking out (while talking to Pinky), which the Three Stooges taught us is a clear sign of good manners. The whole landline vs cell phone (albeit flip design) thing.
I guess Conley doesn’t mind making fun of himself, because that’s what’s going on here. In character as Rob Wilco (or just happening to resemble Wilco, I’m not sure), Conley depicts himself as a pompous, arrogant jerk. (No idea whether he is. I wouldn’t assume so, because he’s evidently modest enough to keep his personality and personal life off the internet—I have no idea what he’s like.)
I believe this particular story line is the only time that Rob Wilco acts like such a pratt. Plagiarism and theft just isn’t his normal behavior… makes me wonder why this sudden change? :>)

The cat poster is famous; the original was produced in 1971 according to Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hang_in_there,_Baby .

i like how Get Fuzzy is portraying Steven Pastis better than pearls does. In pearls hes always smoking and doing what Darby Conley is doing.

“Mr. Pasty” – I love it! I would also love to sit in a bar with the two of them, have a drink or two and just listen to the conversation.
