Say Mr Benson, how do you feel about the Republican candidates for Senator in Arizona? Colbert talked about them last night. I’ve got that “Twilight Zone” feeling again.
Too bad that’s not the reality. When Mr. Mueller finally ends his investigation, whatever findings are announced will immediately be denounced by the disciples of Trump. There will be even more legal wrangling, and in the end our nation will remain, or even become even more, divided. The Trump dynasty will roll on for years to come I am sorry to say. (In the one-party state I live in, both gubernatorial candidates in the R primary take every opportunity to voice their allegiance to the POTUS and his ideas. The Mueller investigation doesn’t mean $h!t to them.)
If Mr. Mueller is allowed to finish his investigation I will be surprised. Trump is pushing his ‘spy story’ ever harder. His base is eating it up.If Trump ‘pulls the plug’ the Republicans certainly will drown in the blue wave.
We now hear that Don Jr. was in contact with a convicted Russian money launderer, in tapes that were obtained by the FBI. It is really layer on layer, the amount of corruption that we are seeing. I can’t help but be amazed at the differences in the way Hillary was treated in so many investigations for one incident and repeatedly exonerated! That is another reason why it is so rich to hear trump continue to talk about Hillary, a now private citizen.
Grampa McCoy(dagnabbit) is making his usual unsubstantiated claims. (tho I did not approve of these agencies previously targeting blacks, liberals, progressives etc, during J E Hoovers reign. Does make it easier to make allegations now.)
@STEVEBENSON 8………I noticed that Lincoln is advising Mueller to save the Union. He says nothing about saving the Republican party. You are pointing out a subtle point of patriotism for which I thank you and hope everyone notices the difference between party line adherents and patriotic Americans. Thank you for a very pertinent panel Mr. Benson. I really like how you show that the party of the Republicans is only a part of and of lesser importance than the Union of the United States which is the most important to save!!!!!. If Trump succeeds in totally shutting down this investigation or discrediting the truth of the results of this investigation, will we still have a union? Or will we become a puppet state for Russia? Mr. Benson, thank you again!!!!!
Trump and his ilk is still whining about Hillary and her insecure server, yet trump is currently using a cellphone that is not secure, saying it is too inconvenient. Hillary is now a private citizen. We could have a discussion about her if she was in office, but she is not. Meanwhile, this is trump’s way of not answering legitimate issues since he is the one in the Oval Office.
In one of the threads above Steve Benson made the following claim:
“Coming out of that much-ballyhooed meeting yesterday where there was supposed to have been incontrovertible evidence presented that a “spy” had infiltrated the Trump campaign thanks to the FBI, both Republicans and Democrats who attended the meeting said there was no evidence to support that “Deep-State” fairytale.”
So, a couple of us have asked him to provide a link to back up the idea that a GOP lawmaker who attended the briefing has made such a statement. We are not disputing that Adam Schiff said same, but none of us can find any similar reference made on the GOP side.
Instead of providing said verification or backing away from the GOP side of his comment, Steve laid out his opinion to why he must be correct and then showered those who disagree with that opinion with personal insults.
I know some you here like and respect Mr. Benson, so I am asking you to help him out. Can you please provide a link to a statement made by any of the GOP people who attended the briefing in which they make a claim similar to that made by Adam Schiff?
I realize that Steve is too proud to admit an error, so I am hoping, for his sake, that one of you can do what he either cannot or will not. Please help restore his credibility by find that elusive link.
Don’t beat yourself up like that. Just post the link or retract your statement. Everybody makes mistakes. You more often than others, but that’s not the point.
Just admit you got a little carried away and overreached.
Early each morning, special counsel Robert Mueller arrives wearing his signature uniform: a crisp white dress shirt, tie, slacks and dark baseball cap. Occasionally he accessorizes with a dark vest or sunglasses, depending on the weather.
The centerpiece of Mueller’s investigation — his original mandate — was to investigate Russian interference in the 2016 election and any potential collusion between Trump and his associates and the Russian government. But the mandate also allowed Mueller to look into any areas that may arise from the investigation. So the probe expanded to include an offshoot investigation into whether the President has tried to obstruct justice.
The special counsel’s team has toiled quietly and declined to hold press conferences. When Mueller brought charges against 13 Russian nationals and three Russian entities in February for allegedly meddling in the 2016 presidential election, he left it up to Rosenstein, who oversees the Russia probe, to make the public announcement.
Mueller should issue a public report at the end of his investigation, regardless of what he finds.
“Conspiracy” to commit a crime, is a crime on all those involved in planning, directing, or requesting such illegal act. Manafort and most of Trump’s associates, of years duration, have or will go down for criminal acts. The only trick for Mueller on most of those is having the direct or even indirect, link proving what is obvious, Trump at a minimum condoned those acts. With Russia, and dometically.
