I often wonder if my life might have changed drastically if I had won that critical chess game and won the first tournament I ever played in. Would I have gotten caught up in the “get a rating and spend all my time and money trying to improve it” trap? Would I have tried to make chess my vocation? I like to think it was for the best that I only came in second…

Time stand still
I’m not looking back
But I want to look around me now
Time stands still
See more of the people
And the places that surround me now
