The NRA and other gun industry spokesmodels have been very quiet about the Secret Service, Pence, and Trump violating their 2nd amendment rights. We all know how insane gun nuts and other assorted ammosexuals are about their toys, so it is at least amusing to witness the NRA unable to defend their Hypocrisy.
How sad. I wonder why the press keeps forgetting to mention that the Secret Service dictates that there be no firearms in the building that are not under direct control of their own team and approved law enforcement personnel.
The NRA is given a choice. No guns or no POTUS. The same choice given to EVERY venue in the nation. No guns or no POTUS.
And no, the NRA has NOT been quiet about this. But the media has conveniently avoided publishing their comments and press releases on the topic.
^ @ANDY, the point you make, although factually correct, does noting to mitigate the hypocrisy. The Secret Service is well aware that the “good guy with a gun” nonsense is just that, nonsense. Their job is to protect the president and not push a political platform.
Even Trump said the strict gun restrictions of the NRA convention would fail to prevent a terrorist attack, highlighting a purported increase in knife violence in the convention. He went on to say things might have been different had the NRA in the convention hall under attack had been armed. He also compared the unarmed meeting site to a “war zone” inside the NRA, saying that despite tough gun rules in the NRA, it has blood all over the floors from victims of knife attacks.
And now the Terrorists at the NRA have picked a convicted felon, gun runner, and international traitor to be their next president. No worries, though, since insane Pepe LaPierre is STILL going to be the REAL lead Terrorist!
It’s pretty simple, really. If everyone has a gun, good guys and bad guys, one cannot tell the good guys from the bad guys. If only bad guys have a gun, they’re easy to spot. Gun free zones are criminal identification zones. And if you’re REALLY worried about it, you can have gun free zones except for policemen, a la the NRA conference.

I pointed out that the MSM has chosen to NOT broadcast the statements by the NRA (and others) regarding opinion on the policy of the SS to forbid armed private citizens in the presence of the POTUS.
I did NOT endorse the SS policy. I happen to disagree with it. I was simply pointing out the blatant partisan lies (by omission) of the media.

The MSM has repeatedly attempted to attribute the decision to prohibit firearms during the POTUS and VP speeches as a hypocritical policy by the NRA.
The NRA HAS issued statements about the situation, but the MSM prefers to ignore these statements choosing instead to continue the narrative blaming the NRA for the gun free policy.
Some of the people above have gotten past that part and are now debating the ability of the POTUS to overrule the SS. You, on the other hand apparently haven’t even gotten as far as understanding the first line in this post.
Tell you what. You go and do your research. Once you have the basics firmly in mind, come back and rejoin the discussion.

Okay, I hate saying anything that could be construed as support for Trump or the NRA, but I also have to keep it real. We all know perfectly well the NRA had nothing to do with the gun ban at that convention. That was by order of the Secret Service. We also know perfectly well that because the Secret Service was providing security services, there were in fact people with guns in that room.
