Uhm, yes, United States law does recognize a difference between those simply crossing borders without documents (or coming here legally and overstaying a visa; or being brought here as infants by parents who crossed a border) and those seeking asylum because of a credible threat based on facts that can be documented in a court of law (most applications are rejected and most asylum-seekers are returned to their countries of origin).

U.S. law recognizes this difference. Does Steven Breen seriously NOT recognize it too?

This administration once again shows its staggering ignorance of the world at large, substituting open racism and selfishness, which appear to be standard policy. One group particularly affected: women and children fleeing violence. Gee, wonder why Trump doesn’t care about that?

So what are they refugees seeking asylum from? Many walked the length of Mexico as they came from other countries. Why did they not seek asylum in Mexico where they have been supported for their entire trek, unmolested?

And now we shall see: The “caravan” is seeking legal immigration, just what the Conservatives have been claiming they were in favour of rather than illegal immigration. If the Conservatives start screaming against these folks, we’ll know it was racism all along.

In order to game the system, a US based open borders group has sent lawyers to Mexico to coach these “asylum seekers” in the exact responses required to get an asylum hearing. In fact, they have already had 4 “seminars” on this subject, with individual coaching to tailor the message from each person.

If we are foolish enough to accept the asylum applications, 80% of the applicants will simply disappear into our population and never appear at their hearing. They have no intention of actually seeking legal status. Their goal is to gain entry and then be absorbed into the illegal population.

Trump creates asylum seekers, he doesn’t help them.

Sorry, but this administration doesn’t have a welcome-mat out for asylum seekers, either. Both panels should show a wall.

American interventions in countries south of us has helped to create political and social unrest for decades. Just look at what we know from open CIA and FBI records of their "meddling"activities in Middle and South American countries.

ANDYLIT, can’t find anything about the “coaching” that you’re claiming. But I’m certain that the refugees are pretty scared at this point because they are looking at a very uncertain future.

LI’L, take a look at AHAB’s link if you REALLY want to find out about where these refugees are coming from and why the US is obligated to help since the US caused their problems in the first place. The CIA has been involved in a lot of disruption over the years.
