Mr. Butts should put himself out; smoking isn’t allowed in the Committee Room.

It’s always wise to show a little humility when testifying to Congress.

Where Mr. Butts is, Mr. Jay will soon follow – that’s my prediction!

Khrushchev said capitalists would sell themselves their own rope for their hanging. He was too optimistic in his timeline and method of death.

An awful lot of people still do that. They have these packages of little white rolled cylinders of dried and chemically treated leaves. They take one out of the package and put one end in their mouth, and they ignite the other end with a flame, then they intentionally suck the fumes out the other end and inhale those fumes deeply into their lungs. They often do it all day long, over and over again; sucking fumes out of those things and deeply inhaling and blackening their lungs.

Methinks Mr. Jay more likely to show up in a current strip in front of a Senate Committee.

Remember that smoking was banned on the floor of Congress — but handing out checks from tobacco lobbyists was encouraged.

Questions never asked of the merchants of death under oath:

“Do you smoke? Oh? Why not?”

“At what age do you want your children to start smoking? No? Why not? It’s healthful, isn’t it, as you’ve told us repeatedly?”
