My Dish receiver will only allow one remote to work to change channels or operate the DVR. My other remote, however, can mute or change the volume of the TV. The other buttons on it are useless.
This strip made me shudder, especially after reading the dialogue from the TV in the last panel. It is disturbingly (though I’m sure unintentionally) reminiscent of a case in Queens, NY in the summer of 1969, when a man was ultimately prosecuted for beating his wife to death. They fought because he wanted to watch the NY Mets, and she wanted to watch the latest installment of the TV soap Dark Shadows.

It’s even more fun changing the channel from outside through a window using a second remote.

The tv in the last panel sums it up.

I had this one pulled on me once, when I was showing off my new Casio wristwatch that had a Universal TV Remote function.

Not as fun as putting a rubber band around the spray handle on the kitchen sink. Funny but dangerous.

It’s wonderful using 2 remotes. Great when hearing is an issue or political ads are on
