People seem to miss the fourth wall breaking … Nate will NEVER pass sixth grade.

Let’s send Nate to Cynthia’s (Barney&Clyde) private school; she’ll whip him into Shape!

He has been in sixth grade for a long long time.

Guess the date- TRY and guess the date of the comic strip when my PROFILE PICTURE was used! (hint- it is a Sunday strip about Nate taking a test)

And yet, next fall he will be greeted by Mrs. Godfrey again as he sets into a new year at PS 38 in the sixth grade!

They would just send you to a different school, ya know be a transfer.

Well, Nate has been in the 6th grade for the longest time so there is no reason for him to worry. ;)

Nate’s 6th grade career may be fabled, but there is no moral to the story.

This Rings so true. My wife is a teacher and kids do this because of the “No kid left behind”. They dont care because they know they will be moving to the next grade no matter what.

Sometimes I read Big Nate and I wonder if Mr. Peirce had any regrets.

Nate Clone Says: You already ARE repeating the 6th grade for eternity. And I’m pretty sure the teachers don’t like it. I’m pretty sure they’d take a day off just to GET AWAY from you.

Nate Clone Says: Since Big Nate seems to be dead indefinitely, Imma let out a strange trivia fact about the strip each weekday (Mon, Tues, Wed, Thurs, & Fri.). I mean, I’m NATE’S DANG CLONE! I SHOULD know everything about it.

Nate shouldn’t keep asking for a dog from Marty, as he already HAS ONE in his locker. (How does it even live in there?)

In my school, if you get three Fs, you have to repeat the grade.

Ever read The Best Christmas Pageant Ever? Nate is like all the Herdman kids.

You can only fail a class in high school, which is a huge leap to make for many students who don’t take their grades too seriously. They get a really rude awakening come grade nine as their teachers teach so many students that they can not stop lessons for just one student; they often don’t care. In elementary school, you would advance to the next grade no matter what.

I want to make another analysis but I’m afraid people will flag me and I’ll get banned. :(
