For someone who hates Hollywood so much, you sure are spending a lot of time on them. Just because you aren’t watching movies, doesn’t mean millions don’t love them. Just because millions don’t love guns, doesn’t mean you don’t love them. Just because millions don’t care about cars, doesn’t mean you don’t like them. just because it is snowing where you live doesn’t mean there is no climate changes.
I know it is hard to discern between the entire country and you – but people have different opinions out there.
Most well-made movies have the idea of making a well-made movie as their central motivation. Sometimes they fail, but that’s what they’re shooting for.
Most hugely-popular movies have the idea of making a hugely-popular movie as their central motivation. Sometimes they fail, but that’s what they’re shooting for.
Occasionally a movie succeeds by both measures, but the Oscars are about recognizing (and, hopefully, popularizing) those movies which aim to be well-made, and succeed.
Perhaps Mr. Payne could take the Best Picture nominees as a list of movies that he would be well-advised to check out. I haven’t seen all nine myself, but I’ve seen seven of them and those are all, in their ways, fine films…
It’s kind of odd that “Get Out” is the only film where Payne didn’t get the name wrong. It might be one of the top money-makers of the nominees, but I find it hard to believe he saw it and liked it. But perhaps the whole point of the cartoon is outrage that “Get Out” didn’t win…
It makes me curious if he likes movies and which movies if any. Also if he has seen any of these movies. The two movies he forgot makes him a perfect movie critic for the current administration.
You anti-Payne haters are hilarious to watch. He’s right on point with this. Most movies today aren’t worth the film (digital bits?) they are printed on. But too many today don’t realize that because they like music from people like Jay Z, Miley Cyrus, etc. And when they think that stuff is music, well, it’s obvious why they don’t know what a good movie is.

So you’re saying you spend so much time watching Faux News and NRA TV that you don’t have time to go to the movies?

What he’s saying is that award shows have become more like political venues and less award shows. And he’s on point.

Celebrating your ignorance is your best talent, Mr. Payne.

Creative people in California think that right wing elite politicians are doing everything wrong. They are correct, get over it and stop doing wrong.

Another non-relevant ‘toon from Payne! Might have more relevancy if he told us about #45’s HUGE Inauguration crowd!
