Whenever I see someone do something foolish or say something foolish – foolish in my judgement, that is – I don’t get angry; I thank God that I am better than that.
Seriously, it is difficult staying out of that trap. Don’t believe your own propaganda and do not think you are superior to your enemy.
I refuse to tell anyone how old I was before I found out a pediatrician wasn’t a foot doctor. There was enough Latin floating around our house that I knew “ped” meant foot – you pedaled a bike, you put people on a pedestal. I just couldn’t figure out why so many of my friends had bad feet. (We just went to our family doctor.)
Whenever I get to feeling smarter than most, I remember that.
