You bought last year’s cheap upgrade, didn’t you. Serves you right. The new ones even pull you aside for a car running the green light while you’re absentmindedly jaywalking.

They should have Picture in Picture, the small one shows what is going on in reality where you are. Yale has crossing guards, that is where we are headed.

You wouldn’t have walked into the lamppost if you had been watching where you were going, like you’re supposed to. Idiot.

I also think that since social media is so important to young people, that there is evolutionary pressure to develop strong thumbs. Those who text best attract mates and pass on their genes.

I can picture a couple of teen boys a couple hundred years from now watching a girl walk by. One nudges the other and says, “Get a load of the thumbs on her!”

I don’t get the fascination with looking at a device while walking or driving. It’s like if people walked around with newspapers and books up to their face while driving and walking back in the “old days”. It would look ridiculous and cause so many accidents…oh wait…that’s what it’s like when people look at their phones too!

I once asked a cop in Toronto (long before cell phones) why they always patrolled downtown in Twos. He said "One to ogle the girls and one to make sure the other didn’t walk into a pole. They swapped jobs when they turned around to patrol the other direction. Smart cops.

I have lived long enough to know that there have been mindless, destructive fads in every decade. The smart phones are just the latest. There is no way of knowing, what will come in the 2020s. My secret of survival, by the way, is not to do what everyone else is doing.
