Always thought Philo had a troublesome integrity streak. Could it be he ends up sporting some spiffy new concrete galoshes? ;-)

And the plot thickens. This dude even looks like a thug.

An honest journalist? Thought that had become an oxymoron. Too bad he’s only in a comic strip but at least he’s in this one.

Well, if Philo actually does follow the truth, he’s going to discover that there is no shortage, and that Cooper’s higher-ups have been playing him. Which is exactly what Jacob wants. So maybe Puma girl is another of Jacob’s minions working to play Philo the other direction.

I think Foxworthy just signed his death warrant. Those contacts are not going to take this well.

That guy looks like a fish out of water. And it was fish who “discovered” all of the remains. Curious.

Also, this character is played as over-the-top fat. By the by, have we seen this character before? Does he (presumably a “he”) have a name?

Also, my apologies for last week. If anyone wants to “flag” me, go ahead. Maybe I deserve it. I was one of those who mentioned a possible link between events in this story and the Charlottesville protests a few weeks ago. // I grant that Aaron has written these stories out, perhaps years in advance. Likely, he didn’t even know who was going to be president when this strip ran, let alone the abominable things he has done since his inauguration. // My concern then, as now, was the apparent (to me, at least) and disturbing confusion between this comic strip and current events of a couple weeks ago. // By the by, this is still a very painful story to watch, regardless.

So they started a rumor that there was a food shortage to discredit the government (that alone is bad enough since it’s basically libel) but then those rumors caused people to resort to murder and CANNIBALISM because they thought it was the only way to survive. This is a pretty extreme way to demonstrate the adage “if you have to lie in order to support your position, it isn’t a position worth supporting.”

And the Dragoncat Award for Best DYKI (Don’t You Know It!) goes to Yangeldf!

True words, sir. Very true words, indeed…

A few others have linked to Cooper’s previous appearances…but I’ve just realized that Cooper was already speaking against Jerkrabbit’s views some years ago (in our time). Here, Jacob is encouraging people to embrace their new mutant identity by changing their name (and here it has nothing to do with dealing with schism syndrome—it’s just a way to identify who is in Jacob Jerkrabbit’s movement), when Cooper speaks up.http://www.gocomics.com/endtown/2011/8/2 and the following strips show more about how folks like Cooper won’t fit in (because not any particular “species”). Then later, after the Milk Trial, it is Cooper who states how badly things will be.http://www.gocomics.com/endtown/2013/08/26 Even back then, Cooper was speaking about how things are NOW in Endtown. Now, it appears he is part of a group working behind the scenes to cause yet another social change. That’s some long-term plotting.
