The French spoken here in the St. John Valley in northern Maine can hardly be understood in Quebec, never mind Paris. It is a very regional dialect….and don’t even think about asking someone how to spell the words they speak.
My mother told me a story about a friend of hers. He was a soldier in Paris during WWII! He walked down the street asking every woman " parley vous Shack up?" Mostly blank stares, a lot of slapped faces, but several good nights in Paris!
I find it fascinating that in English the worst swearwords refer to bodily functions and the lesser ones to religious themes, whereas in French the opposite is the case!

Had the same problem in Vatican City with my Latin… they don’t pronounce it correctly.

That is why I speak Spanish, Italian or Portuguese when I go to France depending on where in France I am at the time.
