Another mental health time bomb takes innocents, & the society for furious finger pointing & self righteous indignation bore sights on the tool rather than the source of the problem. It’s like blaming the pus from an infection instead of the source in the wound!
It has ceased to be news. When you don’t have to wonder whether someone nutcase shot up something every time you turn on the news, the details only change as to numbers and location, it becomes something that is very fast-forward- throughable. The only reason to report it every day is to point out that possibly we should do something about it, but the NRA will certainly not allow that to happen.
It’s not enough just to keep deadly firearms out of the hands of those who are prone to use them in an anti-social way. We must make sure that anyone who does it never, ever has the chance to do such a heinous thing again. That is, they must be euthanized for the benefit and safety of society.
.
There are two stories in the news that, when juxtaposed are telling. One is a shooter in the Fort Lauderdale airport who mowed down 13 people with a gun, killing five. He should not have even the slimmest possibility of having another person’s life or safety in his hands ever again. The second is Charles Manson who, 47½ years ago, unleashed a savage, brutal killing rampage on innocent people. He’s now an old man with medical issues that we are paying for. We’ve supported his safety, sustenance and medical costs all these years and now it’s about to get expensive. I don’t want us to be supporting this Fort Lauderdale madman, or any similar deviant, the same way as we’re supporting Charles Manson.
a very long list of failures here, the VA, the FBI, the local mental health system, and the local judicial system, not to mention whoever gave him back his gun.
Our armed society will prove a boon to flagpole manufacturers, who can save big money on poles when only the bottom half has to be able to support the weight of a flag.
So? There are enough daily shootings in the many $hitty cities of this country the year total mass dwarfs headlines like that. I don’t bother with aricles on local shootings anymore. Just wish they happened to politicians and defense lawyers who make absurd claims of their clients innocence even when they’re videoed.

Yep, after Sandy Hook made shooting children okay in the NRA’s book, it is shocking we still call ourselves human.

The shooting “did” make the front page though so that is at least something.
