A fish will eat to death just to stop the other fishes from getting the food. A teen will accept something it doesn’t like just to stop the other teens to get it.

When i was kid I took any work that was offered me for two reasons: One, i wanted to be grown-up; two, I wanted the independence of having my own money, ‘specially as a teenager. I don’t get this PIS today — Perpetual Infant Syndrome, with the hands up the sleeves, no life to speak of, etc., etc., ad nauseum.
