I don’t think Lupin as portrait here is deaf. I know the real Lupin is, but it’s not a genetic thing. He had a bad infection as a baby.

Our cat Jingle Belle does not seem frightened by loud noises outside (though she does turn her head and prick her ears toward the sound with a “What’s that?” expression). Yesterday, though, we of the Inland Empire were treated to a series of storms laden with heavy lightning and thunder. Jingle was sitting in my lap through a series of flashes and rumbles, until a particularly bright flash followed immediately by a tremendous BA-BOOOOOM! sent Her Rotundity leaping from my lap and scooting under the couch. (My cubby hubby opines that Jingle fled because I jumped and shrieked at the thunderclap, but let us agree to disagree…)

Well, either Lupin got into the pumpkin of the Kitty Clairol he was trying went awry.
